Craftsmanship

Torboon weaves their fabric on traditional 4–8 shaft wooden looms, starting from hand-dyed cotton yarn twisted to precise thickness. The loom width of 120 cm allows for complex, large-scale patterns. Weaving, leather cutting, and bag assembly all happen in the same atelier in Chiang Mai. The nappa leather is sourced as a by-product from cattle raised for beef — not raised for their hides.

Care

Fabric

  1. Brush the fabric surface (inside and out) with a soft toothbrush to remove dust
  2. For spills, dab immediately with a tissue or soft cloth — do not rub
  3. Apply a thin layer of Vanish liquid stain remover to fabric areas only — avoid leather
  4. Gently brush in circular or up-and-down strokes to work it into the weave
  5. Apply a thin layer of clean water to dilute, continue brushing, then dab with tissue
  6. Repeat until Vanish is fully out and no stickiness remains
  7. Dry with a hair dryer on low heat, held at a distance — do not use high heat
  8. For pilling on the cotton weave over time, use a fabric shaver
  9. Occasionally apply a fabric protector spray such as Scotchguard to maintain water repellency

Warning: keep fabric away from dark-dyed materials — contact may permanently discolor the weave. Avoid extreme heat and humidity.

Leather

  • Blot with a soft damp cloth to clean — do not soak
  • Air dry in a shaded area away from direct sunlight
  • Use a rubber eraser to remove any remaining scuffs after drying
  • Apply Stay Clean or leather lotion to recondition
  • Store away from direct sunlight and alcohol
  • In damp storage areas, use desiccant packets to prevent moisture damage
