Saltwoven
Mixed media on canvas (acrylic) — 100 cm × 120 cm
Saltwoven is part of Nadeen Baba's Intertwined collection, which explores the spiritual journey of human experience — how we are shaped over time by the connections we form with others.
Against a luminous yellow ground, sweeping strokes in black, teal, and warm earth tones arc and loop upward from the lower half of the canvas. The marks are layered — some gestures sit beneath others, visible but partially absorbed, the way certain relationships leave traces even when they're no longer at the surface. The teal strokes rise lighter, almost atmospheric, while the black and ochre curves carry more weight, more history.
The title suggests something woven from salt — preserved, textured, elemental. There's a sense of things that have been through something and remained, transformed by the process.
